Queer Edinburgh is an oral history project that explores the people and places that have shaped Edinburgh’s LGBTQ+ community and their identities. The findings of this oral history project were presented in a community-led exhibition, a podcast, and a digital map and walking trail entitled 'A Walk around Queer Edinburgh' - https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=19sAplxH8_PQNBoPOEcELO2c0nNy1PR...
A Walk around Queer Edinburgh has been produced as part of Scotland's Year of Stories 2022. The project developed from the Queer Edinburgh oral history project which was organised by The Living Memory Association. This project recorded oral histories from Edinburgh's LGBTQ+ community as a way to preserve and highlight their important history. These oral histories have been developed into an exhibition, which was displayed at The Wee Hub in Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre until the end of February 2023. The project was also developed into a podcast series, launched in early December 2022. The walking route is an accumulation of the stories, places and people that shaped Edinburgh as a queer city. This project has been supported by the Year of Stories 2022 Community Stories Fund. This fund is being delivered in partnership between Visit Scotland and Museums Galleries Scotland with support from National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to National Lottery players.
